Email Set-up on Android devices

 What information you need to start:

Before you get started, make sure that you have the following information:

  • Email username (this is your full email address)
  • Your password
  • The server settings for your email – click here – for details

Adding a new email account to your Android device:

  1. Select the email application on your phone or tablet
  2. If it does not prompt you to set up a new account automatically, select Menu, and then Add Account
  3. Enter your full email address. Ex. SunnyDay@lightspeed.ca
  4. Enter your email password
  5. Select Manual Setup
  6. Select your choice of either POP or IMAP
  7. Your username is your full email address. Ex. SunnyDay@lightspeed.ca
  8. Your password is your supplied email password
  9. Enter your incoming mail server information
  10. Enter your incoming server port.
  11. Now Click Next
  12. Enter your outgoing mail server information
  13. Enter your outgoing server port. If required by the server settings for your email address, this is where you will select SSL.
  14. Check off Require sign-in
  15. Enter you username which is your full email address. Ex. SunnyDay@lightspeed.ca
  16. Your password is your email password
  17. Select Next to finalize
  18. We suggest you send yourself a test email to make sure your settings are working correctly. That might take a few moments based on the server loads.

Making changes to an existing email address:

  1. From your Email Screen, select Menu
  2. Now select Settings
  3. Then select Account Settings
  4. Choose the email account you wish to modify
  5. Click on More Settings
  6. Review the settings and then update your incoming and outgoing server details as required
  7. Save and exit
  8. We suggest you send yourself a test email to make sure your settings are working correctly. That might take a few moments based on the server loads.
