Basic Email Settings

Basic Email settings

You need know what settings to use to configure your email software. While each email program is different the information required is always the basic technical details of the servers we use. Keep in mind if you have any problems please contact us for assistance.

SSL (secure) email settings

Below are the recommended security settings that should be used when possible. The SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol enables you to connect to our server securely to prevent “evil doers” from seeing or stealing your data over the network connection you are using to access your email.

  • Incoming Server: imap.lightspeed.ca
  • Outgoing Server: smtp.lightspeed.ca
  • Username: Your full e-mail address
  • Password: Your e-mail account password
  • Incoming Port: POP3 995 or IMAP 993
  • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) Port: 587
  • SSL: YES
  • SMTP Authentication Required
  • Secure Authentication or SPA needs to be turned off

Non SSL (unsecure) email settings

The following settings are the non-secure connections. While we do supply this information you should only use these settings if the secure (SSL) ones will not work in your software application for your email. Note that you will need to change “example.com” to your domain name.

  • Incoming Server: imap.lightspeed.ca
  • Outgoing Server: smtp.lightspeed.ca
  • Username: Your full e-mail address
  • Password: Your e-mail account password
  • Incoming Port: POP 110 or IMAP 143
  • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) Port: 25 (2025 if port 25 is being blocked)
  • SSL: NO
  • SMTP Authentication Required
  • Secure Authentication or SPA needs to be turned off
